EDITION 38 - EARLY EDITION

Lots to cover at this show and luckily most of it was of an age I'm interested in. It was my first time coming to something this size and the quality of cars was immense. Having spent a lot of time researching vehicles like this and looking at various builds on Speedhunters and different social media platforms, aactually having chance to see these in the flesh highlights the abilities of some people within the community. Most of the cars we paid attention to were MK2 Golfs, Polos of a similar age, Porsches and all the one-off stuff like the JTCC Octavia Estate, the MK1 Golf Race cars, and all the period-correct performance parts on show. I'm not a stickler for originality in current builds, but retaining elements from the era with restorations is heavily appreciated.

It's a shame there aren't more cars with some battle scars in a way. I'd hate to see any of them crashed or damaged maliciously, but the patina of hard driving or on-the-fly racing modifications disregarding style and perfection in aspiration of performance and speed make a car more special. All the cars were impressive but without the imperfection it's somewhat inauthentic. Hopefully there'll be a Supertouring-era car at one of these events so I can get my fix of racecar goodness.
