Last year at Only Charged Dubs was an interesting mix of cars and a lot of fun, so it made sense to come back this year and check it out again. The setup was much the same but the variety of cars was pretty different and it was worth making the short journey down again to get a look at what had turned up. Everyone at OCD is brilliant and the guys from The Drivers Collection were there too with a stall where I got a new t-shirt. From the name it makes sense the majority of attendees would be bagged VWs and Audis, although the rest of the car park was a brilliant mixture of JDM, other Euro brands, and some American.
Starting off with a stunner this year. Proportionally these cars are so satisfying and the way this has been modified accentuates this brilliantly.
I don't know if there's a proper name for this style of 80's/90's cars with beige cloth interiors and little to no bodykit but I really enjoy it. This jacket is it, whatever it's called.
A similar interpretation of this chassis in a very complimentary colour.
Something I wouldn't have taken to initially but it photographs so well I spent a lot of time walking around it and trying to get the best photos of it.
The interior on this was so clean it looked impossible, and the exterior was exceptional as well.
Colour combinations aplenty at this place!
I've photographed this car more than any other so it's an interesting gauge of the location to see how well it appears at each location.
Rallye front end is a brilliant improvement.
More of the great colours here. It helps with the background has a little bit of uniformity to it but enough interest to give a bit of context.
Another car that isn't my usual style but the owner was super nice and I could really appreciate the way it had been modified.
This is the only time I've seen coloured tint look good on anything.
I didn't get any great shots of this stunning car but obviously it's an insane one-off build.
Mk4s winning me over again. Helps that this was as super clean and tastefully done as it was. Ultra simple and gorgeous in black.
BONUS
Maybe if I'd stayed until the very end I could have gotten a shot which made the most of this background. Maybe when the yard is open we can put a car in front of the cranes and get a brilliant shot out of it.
And that's it! We stayed quite a long time and got a free mug (it had blown onto the floor and chipped a bit but still looked good!) and it was free to get in so we're up on the day! Definitely be back next time.
