ONLY CHARGED DUBS - 10th ANNIVERSARY

Great event with great people, relatively local and much more selection than we were expecting. Not a massive fan of bagged cars and there were certainly some that completely passed over my head ironically, but some gems which opened my mind to the style a bit more. Some favourites from previous events have sported kits from these guys and the quality seems undeniable. We walked around the car park a few times to try and soak everything in and get a good shot of nearly everything. It's a shame I didn't make more of the opportunity to talk to the owners and get the stories but I've always found it difficult to insert myself into a conversation. Nonetheless did manage to have a brief chat with a couple of folks and learn more about the cars. The E30 Touring at the end is a personal favourite I've managed to see twice now. Once the owner had got the car looking spotless (I like to show up early to catch everything before anyone has left and also before the crowds get too big) we had a chat and had my various questions answered. Otherwise this brief fly around was well worth the trip and very fruitful. I'll have to remember what shots I want to get next time....

Never understood the purpose of the doilies in VIP cars; can't imagine they do much to protect the seat fabric or improve comfort - just for looks then?

Always wanted to do this swap when I had a MK2 Golf - this is in a Jetta but I imagine it's a pretty identical swap. The manifold is gorgeous and the reflection from the heat reflective material on the firewall adds some nice warmth. I've long toyed with the idea of carbon fibre intake parts but I think a proper ITB setup like this is a necessity to get the full effect.

Having only known the basic idea behind the Nissan Pao for a little while, it's execution is something to behold. Figaros are pretty common here and I guess this is a similar Micra/March related sort of thing? Interesting enough in its own right and gives a sort of pastoral Japan vibe with a lot of originality but some interesting touches like a Nismo shifter knob. I really enjoy usable cars like this so it was a treat to see one in good condition.

What's particularly cool is how it still looks pretty solid like the materials the designers have been inspired by, rather than chromed plastic replica parts most other 'retro' style things have

I've just applied my Juicebox sticker on the rear quarter window, got to show the love

If I remember correctly this took home quite a number of awards at Elsecar at the Races and it definitely deserves them. The finish is beautiful and the standard it's kept to is really inspirational. Rallyes are easy to appreciate on screen but the magic is really present in person.

Driver centric - well used - all you need to have a good time in a car which maybe wasn't designed for it. If you can address the areas where you directly contact the car, the driving experience becomes much more enjoyable.

I believe this is owned by the guy behind The Drivers Collection which has very quickly become a favourite at the shows. I don't think this is a good enough shot to replicate the cleanliness of that bay, but good impotus to get it right next time.

Although the MX5 is a pretty humble ubiquitous car, but the period of the NA MX5/FD RX7 is one of the best design pairings in car history, and the love for these little things shows that. Tom Matano had his thinking cap on for those!
Luckily I had my beat up 35mm f2 for this shot to get some glow off the wheels to counter the black of the shell.

Didn't expect to see anything like this, and it was a massive treat. Can't get over how enormous American cars are, especially parked next to a MK2 Golf.

This is probably my least favourite colour for a car, but it photographs well.

This, on the other hand, is a great colour. And a great car to feature it on. The touring is a perfect usable classic and this 6-pot diesel fits so well.

Done! Lots of lessons learned both for my own car and my photography; I certainly need to work the cars I like a bit more and not be worried about taking up a little bit of space to get a good shot. These are only here for my own enjoyment and to exercise my creativity, but I can't help but want to improve in any way I can!
